God doesn’t bless us for our own good, but that we would bless those around us.” What a wonderful thought. Yes!! Our club has blessed others on our last two trips. We blessed a young woman on the Fury and we blessed a couple on the Mirage.
The Mirage adventure began in the usual way: a briefing on safety and what kind of fish we were going target first. We also included in the briefing our annual Happy Birthday song for Paula led by Tom Hinman. The ride out was smooth and a little slow, we did not begin fishing until 6 am. We waited for daylight. On the first drop Ken K brought up two nice cod. It took a while before our whole crew was fishing; but when all were up and fishing the action never stopped. We loaded the boat with quality fish. Most cod were between 2 to 4 pounds very few little ones were throw backs. Paula, our birthday girl, caught Bacachio at 8.5 pounds George and Frank S. also caught two lingcod.
The fish count was 190 cod, 24 white fish, 2 lingcod and one shark. We fished for 3 hours for white sea bass and all we caught was the one shark. We drifted for halibut a couple of times with no luck.
We had a guest on board, crew member Ryan’s wife, Tiffany. Our club received a nice complement when we were putting Paula’s cupcakes on board Ryan asked if his wife could join us because he knew what a nice group we were to fish with. Our group did not disappoint. We found out they have two children 10 and 12 and that Tiffany loves to be on the water. She enjoyed herself. We were blessed to provide a few hours of alone time for this couple.
The crew on the Mirage were Great!
