Written By Ken Kunkel The July 15, Olive Crest trip was one of the best ever! We left the dock at 5:30, picked up a load of bait and headed south. The ocean was beautiful with no wind or bumpy sea to speak of. A local pod of dolphins paid us a visit on the way down. We dropped anchor and the excitement began. Written By CharterMaster Ken Kunkel Our July Mirage trip brought home plenty of fish to eat, just not white seabass. We left the dock about 9:30 pm. The sea was a little rock and roll but tolerable. Our lines hit the water about 5am and Valerie Handzus brought first fish on board which was a 14.11 lb. white seabass and was the only one caught. It was great having long time out-of-town members join us who were Dave Shill from Yuma AZ and Floyd Spangler from Big Bear. Written by: CharterMaster Charles Massingill The FIB’ers had a team charter with The Calvery Chapel Reel Disciples Fishing Club, East Anaheim (CCEA). This September charter was on the Oceanside 95 out of Point Loma Landing in San Diego. The two clubs met at the landing at 7:30 a.m. and boarded the big boat around 9:30 a.m. This was our first time chartering the O-95 and people liked the size of the boat and the bunk rooms. We picked up a nice load of anchovies and headed north towards Laguna Beach; the ocean was smooth and the wind was light on our first stop. The FIB’ers continue to be blessed as five club members and two friends took a group of Olive Crest kids fishing on the Sum Fun Sportboat last night out of Dana Point from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There were only a few of them who knew how to fish and the others had never fished before. There were 13 of us, plus crewmembers. The weather around the dock was pleasant, and not windy and it was a clear night.
