What a smooth trip. We had a great group of fishermen and women.
We enjoyed each other through out the trip. We had our annual cupcake eating to celebrate Paula’s Birthday. This year’s song was led by a real singer, Val, who started us out on the correct key. During the trip several belly laughs were experienced during our time in the galley. The Mirage crew was great in helping us set up our gear for fishing. I always marvel at how quickly they can tie up knots.
Enough of the extra stuff. We left the dock at 10pm; the Ocean was a little bumpy at first but settled down. We arrived at our fishing around
4:30 but sack-rat Ken stay warm for a few more hours.
Unfortunately the fish did not cooperate until later in the morning.
Our Captain starting searching for schools using the fish finder of fish he found a couple of schools to stop on and we picked up our 4 white sea bass. Adam caught the first first WS and won the jackpot with a 25.5 pounder. I’m not sure who was next but Hank landed a 14.5, Ed a 16.5, and Larry a 15.2.
We search for several more hours but the white sea bass did not cooperate. The Captain then headed out for rock fish. Many of us headed for the galley and some very delicious hamburgers. The weather was a little on cool side, but the seas were calm; ideal conditions for rock fishing.
The First couple of stops were not productive, but we finally found some cooperative rock fish and put on 154 rock cod plus 7 ling cod. Because of our late star on cod fish the Captain stayed a little longer than usual. We returned to the dock at 7pm. All a little tired but with plenty of fish and good memories of fishing with a great group of FIB’ers.
