We left the dock at 12:15 pm on a clear, quiet afternoon and headed over to the bait barge. We picked up a nice load of anchovies and headed north towards Laguna Beach; the ocean was smooth and the wind was light on our first stop. About 30 minutes into our journey we started fishing and catching many fish. The fish were mostly calico bass, but some barracuda showed up along with two small white seabass. We spend the majority of our time fishing and catching at our first stop. Many squeals of excitement were heard as the fish kept coming over the side. We did have our buddy, the seal show up who also snacked on our fish. One poor baracuda never made it to the water.
We kept the cook happy and busy by consuming many hamburgers, chips and candy plus drinks. Our number of Juniors was light; that allowed our volunteers to fish and added to the enjoyment of the afternoon.
The crew was very good and helped all the kids with fishing. We enjoyed seeing our fellow fishing buddy Neil Ritchy and his daughter. My, has she grown since she last fished with us!
Tight Lines to All!
