We left the dock aboard the Sum Fun from Dana Marina and headed out on our first fishing trip for Kids in 2024. The seas were calm and the wind was down. We headed north and began fishing of the some under ground rocks. The first fish caught was a Calico Bass landed by Max using hook-up bait. Several more fish were caught at that location, but fishing was slow. The hamburgers were delicious and cooked to perfection.
We made several more moves trying to find hungry fish willing to bite but luck was not with us. We hooked several under sized barracuda; the slimy thing made for Great Photos. The most exciting fish we caught were a half dozen undersized white sea bass; all were released to grow for our next trip. The whole group of fisherman on board were great! They all were very polite and considerate of each other. Sophia and Coral made great progress in their fishing skills, improving in both casting and learning how to hook bait. Debbie and her grandsons, long time participants on our junior charters also joined us for the trip. What a pleasure to see how they’ve grown physically as well in fishing skills. THANK YOU Debbie for sharing your grandsons with us.
To end the trip Captain Brian, headed south to see if the fish were any more cooperative south of Dana Harbor, They were a little more cooperative, but not a wide open bite. We returned to Dana Harbor having spent the afternoon on God’s Beautiful Ocean with a group of wonderful fishermen and nice mix of adults and young people. God Blessed our trip.
A special Thank you to Bernie, Charlie, Tom Hinman, Rick, and Paula for all their help in setting up and caring for our fisherman and fisherwomen. Captain Brian, we appreciate your helping make sure everyone caught fish. THANK YOU “Captain Rollo’s Kids” for your financial support.
